Donald Grey Barnhouse – Birthright

History shows that men prefer illusions to realities, choose time rather than eternity, and the pleasures of sin for a season rather than the joys of God forever. Men will read trash rather than the Word of God, and adhere to a system of priorities that leaves God out of their lives. Multitudes of men spend more time shaving than on their souls; and multitudes of women give more minutes to their makeup than to the life of the eternal spirit. Men still sell their birthright for a mess of pottage.

Spiritually speaking, many today despise their birthright.Ephesians 1:3-14 shows us a treasury of riches that are ours by birthright in Jesus:

  1. Every spiritual blessing
  2. The blessing of being chosen in Jesus
  3. Adoption into God’s family
  4. Complete acceptance by God in Jesus
  5. Redemption from our slavery to sin
  6. True and total forgiveness
  7. The riches of God’s grace
  8. The revelation and knowledge of the mystery of God’s will
  9. An eternal inheritance
  10. The guarantee of the indwelling Holy Spirit

Far too many neglect or trade away this birthright for cheap entertainment, momentary popularity, or passing pleasures.

Albert-isms

G_d can direct by supplying or withholding money.

When you decide to operate by the principle of G_d’s word you will not fit into society of which we are living now.

What out when you are in step with the world because the world is never instep with G_d.

Prerequisite for trust is: You know G_d’s word, acknowledge His authority, accepting His direction and accepting our responsibility.

A Christian must learn to accept latitude than to dictate G_d’s law.

Worry is taking on the responsibility that belongs to G_d

Money and Wealth are only tools for doing G_d’s work.

A Christian must remember that we only manage G_d’s recourses.

Everyone must eventually die and leave all his wealth behind.

If we are ethical it is because our practices are motivated by principle rather than by profit.

We need to follow G_d’s rules even if it costs us a bunch.

One can learn more from trials than from triumphs.

There is a special place for people without problems: it is called a cemetery.

Reputation is what others think of you, character is what G_d knows you are.

Circumstances or crisis never create character, they only reveal it.
