  • blinded after watching his family murdered and died in captivity
  • Those left in the city where taken as exiles to Babylon
  • Poorest: given the land, vineyards and fields, remained in Jerusalem
• Jeremiah 39:11-14
  • Nebuchadnezzar turns Jeremiah’s care over to Nebuzaradan, Captain of the bodyguard.
    • Nebuzaradan turns Jeremiah’s care over to Gedaliah.
      • Gedaliah, Jewish administrator stayed in Jerusalem
• Jeremiah 39:15-18
  • Jehovah tells Jeremiah to give a message to Ebed-melch, the Ethiopian
    • The destruction of Jerusalem is at hand, but I will deliver you, because you trusted me.
