• Jeremiah 29: 1-3A letter Jeremiah wrote to the exiles
  • Jeconiah aka Johiachin aka 597 BC. Nebuchadnezzar took him back to Babylon with him. Nebuchadnezzar installed Zedekiah as king in Judah a puppet government.
  • Zedekiah sent 2 people to Babylon, probably with “tribute”, and probable sneaked Jeremiah’s letter to Babylonian exiles.

  • “settle down” in Babylon. Seek the welfare (shalowm, shalom) of the land

• Jeremiah 29:15-20Here is what is coming to Jerusalem:
  • • sword, famine, pestilence
    • because they did not listen to My words (through My prophets)
• Jeremiah 29:21-23False prophets: Ahab son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah son of Maaseiah
  • • There names will be like a curse.
• Jeremiah 29:24-32Shemaiah: been writing letters to Jerusalem, to Zephaniah, a “Sargent of arms” in the temple. “The LORD has made you priest, calling Jeremiah a mad man, Why have you, Zephaniah, not put him in stocks?!
  • Because Shemaiah was not sent from Me, YHVH, he and his descendants will not have anyone living through the captivity and make it back to Jerusalem.
