  • AMEN: verily, truly, amen, so be it
    • Either Sarcasm or Jeremiah really would love to see this, but he knows its not true
  • The Prophet challenge: Only one is true
    • Authentic Prophets before Jeremiah brought messages of destruction
    • Hananiah: We will destroy Babylon and return the articles which have been taken from the Temple, in two years
    • Jeremiah: we will see in two years won’t we!!
    • Deuteronomy 18:20-22 : the penalty for a false prophet.

  • Jeremiah, waited and received the word of the LORD
    • Go back to Hananiah: “You thought a wooden yoke was bad, now here comes an iron one.
    • v 17: Hananiah died within just two months!
      • The sin of rebellion = Evil
